Authorities say that 15-year-old Mireya Mata-Alvarez died of alcohol poisoning. Her body was found in the backseat of a car on December 21, behind the JC Penney’s store at 3333 Market Place Drive.
The incident was investigated by the Council Bluffs Police Department and foul play was not suspected.
The Autopsy/Toxicology report has come back from the state and the death has been ruled accidental, linked to alcohol poisoning.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Mata-Alvarez had been out all night with two other girls and five boys and police believe they had been drinking and smoking marijuana.
