A teenage girl should recover after she was hit by a gunshot early Friday morning.
Officers were called to the area of 63rd and Fowler around 1:30 a.m. When they arrived, they observed some 100 adults attending a party.
Moments later, officers were notified that 19-year-old Charlessa Smith arrived at Immanuel Hospital with a gunshot wound to her elbow. She told police she was walking northbound on 63rd Street when she heard gunshots and felt a sharp pain.
Smith said she did not see any suspects. Police canvassed the area, but were unable to find any evidence that that is where the shooting occurred and couldn't find any witnesses that were willing to provide a description of the suspect.
