The attorney for a Lincoln teenager accused of shooting another teen to death is asking a judge to move the case to juvenile court.
Zachary Neuberger was 10 days shy of his 18th birthday when he allegedly killed 19-year-old Naif Al-Kazahy on July 29th.
Neuberger is charged with second-degree murder and use of a weapon, which would mean 25 years to life in prison if he's convicted. Prosecutors say Neuberger killed Al-Kazahy with a single shotgun blast to the chest.
Nebraska law says cases involving juveniles who were younger than 18 at the time of a crime must be transferred to juvenile court, unless a judge finds a "sound basis" for keeping the defendant charged as an adult.
