An Omaha teenager was hospitalized after being hit by a Jeep while crossing the street Saturday afternoon.
Police said 18-year-old Kunta Plunkett II was crossing 102nd Street at Bloomfield Drive north of the Westroads Mall shortly before 5 p.m. when a Jeep driven by a 25-year-old Omaha woman heading northbound tried to swerve but hit Plunkett. Witnesses said he did not appear to look for oncoming traffic.
Plunkett was taken to Creighton University Medical Center. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening. Investigators said he was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. The driver was not cited.
