A 19-year-old walking on a track in northwest Iowa was struck by a train Wednesday afternoon.
Police say Deon Parkhurst was heading west when he was hit from behind by a Canadian National locomotive around 4 p.m. in Storm Lake. Parkhurst was taken to Buena Vista Regional Medical in Storm Lake and then flown to Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City. A hospital spokeswoman said Thursday that Parkhurst remained in critical condition.
