An arrest has been made that will make some car owners happy. Earlier this week, they woke up to find their car windows smashed by a vandal and valuables stolen.
Nineteen-year-old Javier Gonzalez was arrested on four counts of theft, five counts destruction of property, and possession of a controlled substance. Douglas County Sheriff's deputies believe he is responsible for the break-ins in the area of 159th and Q Street.
On June 25, Lt. Scott Lane woke up to find the window of his teenager's car smashed. Lane said, "I only have liability so its al out of pocket to get new windows and get them replaced. With the Nebraska weather, I have to get it done soon."
Lane is a supervisor for court security with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. He is one of nine victims whose cars had windows smashed and items, like steroes and CDs, stolen.
He echoed the sentiments of the other victims, saying, "Its incredibly frustrating. I had to take a day off to get the cars cleaned."
