A suspected car thief arrested Saturday afternoon after running from police faces charges of theft by receiving, willful reckless driving, obstruction and providing false information. He is 16 years old.
Officers at North 39th and Read streets in Omaha noticed one vehicle chasing another when a tire came off one of the vehicles around noon. The vehicle stopped and the driver got out and ran. Police learned the vehicle had been stolen and went after the driver.
When the boy was found he did not obey commands and was bitten by a police K-9. After being treated for the wound, the suspect was booked at the Douglas County Youth Center.
