A 12-year-old is recovering after being shot at a house party Friday night.
Lincoln police were called to the 2300 block of South 35th Street after reports of a shooting.
Police say a man had gone to a party with friends and brought a gun along with the intentions of selling it to someone at the party.
According to police, several witnesses confirmed that when the man pulled the gun out of his pocket, he accidentally dropped it. The firearm then when off when it hit the ground.
The girl was standing nearby and was hit in the shoulder. Lincoln Fire and Rescue took the child to the hospital, her injuries are not considered life threatening.
Police then cited the man for unlawful discharge of a weapon.
