The state general fund received nearly $358 million in February, instead of the projected $365 million.

The report released Friday by State Tax Commissioner Doug Ewald says revenue from gross sales, use and miscellaneous taxes were down. Gross individual income and corporate tax receipts were up.

The comparisons were based on revised estimates calculated by the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board at its Feb. 25 meeting.

Lawmakers use those estimates to build the state's two-year budgets.

Board member Laurence Lanphier said in February he was "cautiously optimistic" about the state's economic future, despite concerns about rising oil prices, which can affect business production and costs and related tax collections.
