A 59-year-old Swiss man has been sentenced to a year in jail for possessing 30 pounds of marijuana in Nebraska.
Willi Wirz was sentenced on Tuesday.
Wirz had been driving on Interstate 80 near Waverly in August when he was pulled over for a traffic violation. A search of his car turned up the pot in the trunk and back seat.
With credit for his time served, he may soon leave Lancaster County custody. But in court Tuesday, prosecutors said Wirz is suspected of growing marijuana at his home in Pahrump, Nevada, but no charges had been filed.
Officials also say Wirz is in the United States illegally and faces deportation.
