Have you ever thought about swimming a thousand miles? How about a thousand miles down the Missouri River? That's what 32-year-old Dave Cornthwaite, from London, England is doing.
He and his crew stopped for a few minutes Friday at Omaha's riverfront marina.
He is swimming from Chamberlain, South Dakota to St. Louis to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
"I wasn't a swimmer before I started this journey," said Cornthwaite. "It's a brand new adventure for me. We've traveled almost 400 miles so far. And my team and I, my team is paddling with me on stand up paddle boards and a big canoe. And we're going the full 1000 miles together for breast cancer awareness."
Cornthwaite tries to swim about 30 miles every day. He still has another 600 miles to go until he reaches St. Louis.
His goal is to raise $150,000 through his website swim1000.com. There is a link to the site below.
