Girl Scouts from local Troop 44461 have taken the message of supporting our troops to heart.
Jayden Mehrens and Grace Colbert set up a display of Girl Scout cookies outside of Sam's Club at 120th and L Streets in Omaha on Monday.
Their customers were invited to donate extra money to "the boot."
The additional dollars are being used to buy more cookies that will then be sent to a metro soldier who is serving his 5th deployment to Afghanistan.
7-year old Jayden told Channel 6 News, "I hope they enjoy them, they're supposed to be really good!"
Jayden's mother Kelli said, "Right now we have over 90 boxes of cookies that we're going to send over."
That number is sure to grow as other Girl Scouts from Troop 44461 set up another display at Bakers on 120th and Center on Saturday March 23, 2013.
Customers will again be invited to contribute to "the boot."
