Police are asking for help in finding the two men who ran from a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon after police pulled over the stolen car they were in.

The stop was made near North 72nd and Seward streets in Omaha around 4 p.m.

Police say the pair stole the car on October 28. They took it from an 83-year-old Korean War veteran who had just arrived at a metro care center near North 90th Street and Western Avenue to visit his wife of 61 years. Red, the owner of the car, was thinking about her and paid no attention attention to the two men he saw roaming around the parking lot.

"Then when I shut the car off, stepped out, the second one was right in my face and he just yelled, 'give me your keys.'"

Red wasn't about to give them away.

"You know, your anger takes over," he said. "And I was going to hit him."

But Red was pushed to the ground, locked out of his car, and the criminals drove away.

"Something like that hits me so fast," he said. "I'm kind of a slow thinker. I kept thinking to myself, oh, God. The car's gone. I gotta come here just about every day to see her. I thought, oh, what am I gonna do?"

At least Red won't have to worry about finding a ride to see his wife. He recovered his car from the police impound lot Wednesday. Now he's waiting for police to track down the people who put him through the ordeal.

The investigation of this case revealed that the two suspects were also involved in a recent shoplifting at Von Maur. The pictures above came from the store's surveillance cameras.

If you know who the thieves are, call police at 402-444-7867.
