An Omaha driver told police sun glare caused her to not see another car in the intersection Wednesday morning.

A 2005 Suzuki Forenza was eastbound on Bancroft, around 7:45 a.m.; however, when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto 8th Street, it was hit by a 1997 Ford Escort.

The two occupants in the Ford, 33-year-old Meriyha Phillips and an eight-year-old were taken to the hospital. Phillips was treated and released and it turned out the child was not hurt.

The driver of the Suzuki, 20-year-old Natividan Hernandez was cited for failure to yield. She was not hurt.

Omaha police have said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
