Don’t let the frigid weather mislead you. It’s time to start thinking about that summer job.
The Omaha Parks and Rec Department is looking to fill approximately 500 positions for the coming summer and to help reach that goal they held a job fair Thursday afternoon at the Florence Community Center.
Applicants came in, filled out some forms, and got interviews on the spot.
The department says it's not just for teens looking for that lifeguard or concessions job. Other positions, like park or golf maintenance, are for those 18 and older.
Teens looking for a return engagement on the payroll say the money isn't bad and the experience is great.
Gwendolyn Vargas said, “I'm not sure what I want to do with my future but obviously it involves college. And I need to pay for college. Plus, I really loved doing it last year.”
The department will still be trying to fill the positions even after the job fair. If you're interested, you can apply on the city's Web site.
