The Olympics made an appearance at Papillion’s Bell Elementary school Friday.
Since the kids couldn’t watch the games, the administration brought the events to the kids.
Students in P.E. class recreated various competitions like bobsledding and hockey but it didn’t stop in the gym.
Each classroom has been following the progress of different countries and cheering them on.
We looked in on a classroom following Japan. The kids wore the Japanese colors, flew a flag, and one even painted her nails for the country.
Teachers say this is a great cultural experience for the kids. They're getting a sense of what the spirit of the games is about.
P.E. teacher Molly Checksfield said, “We wanted to talk about school community, and building assets with the students. So this is a way that makes all of us come together, to work together, the different teachers, and the different students.”
Kids started the day off with their own Olympics opening ceremony.
