Omaha Public School students gathered today to remember the horrible acts of terrorism that occurred 12 years ago today.
Students from three Magnet centers worked together to clean up a community garden at Lothrop Elementary school Wedenesday morning.
This was part of a service learning project and teachers hoped the student would learn how to come together and work for a common goal.
"A lot of these studens werent even born or have an understadning of this historical issue," Sandra Day of the Omaha Public Schools said. "So they've done a lot of studying in class and they've done a lot of research on line they understand the issue and that makes them understand how to work as a team."
This is the second year for the learning project. Students from Lothrop, North High and King Science Center participated in the activities.
