Student Faces Suspension for Drugged Cookies

A Lincoln man faces charges of Child Neglect and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child. Ramon Noriega, 37, is the father of an Irving Middle School student who allegedly brought cookies to school that were laced with marijuana.

The student faces suspension for the incident.

According to the principal, a few students ate the cookies knowing exactly what they were.

All the students were checked out by staff reportedly suffered no ill effects.

Officials say students coming forward about drugs in school set a great example for others.

The Principal, Dr. Susette Taylor, said, “Most of the things that go on, we know about them because students tell us, and that's an important piece. So, we are very proud of our students for that."

The principal says they have enough information to support suspension of the student who brought the drugs but police are still investigating to determine what else may happen to the student.
