A Lincoln Southeast High student was assaulted in a school bathroom Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. when the girl went to her locker during lunch period. She screamed while in the empty hallway, then was pulled into a boy's restroom by a boy and thrown to the floor. Her attacker then fled.

Police have labeled the incident an attempted sexual assault and believe a student was the assailant. School officials, however, say there is no evidence of sexual contact.

"At the time the incident was reported, school administrators and security personnel searched the building and school grounds and determined that there was not an immediate threat requiring the building to be locked down," said principal Brent Toalson.
