For 29 years, the Metro Omaha Business Association has opened up lives of luxury to all during Street of Dreams. The event showcases newly built, high-end homes.
Six homes built in the area of South 238th and Q streets in the Elkhorn area by six different design teams are being featured this summer. They offer bright, sun-filled rooms, luxury finishes, high ceilings and beautiful architecture. Each team of builders has different homeowners in mind when designing. Some layouts are for empty nesters, others for new parents. Five of the six homes are still for sale, ranging in price from between $600,000 and $700,000.
Organizers say while the price is high, anyone can get something from taking in the Street of Dreams. "You can build your dream home and not spend a million dollars," says MOBA Executive Director Cassi Petersen. "You can still have some of those really cool options, the latest and greatest in technology features, design, architecture. It's really the high-end product that you can incorporate into a home you're building or maybe a remodel project."
How can you take some of that luxury home for a fraction of the cost? While you may not be able to afford one of the featured homes, you can use some of their ideas. One trend is open rooms. The living room, dining room and kitchen all run together. They have luxury finishes but are more casual. That applies upstairs, too. Folks are making bathrooms look more open.
“I know a lot of people come out here that are building maybe less expensive homes, but they can take something from each home and maybe put it into one that they're building,” says Street of Dreams visitor Diana Knight.
Street of Dreams runs until August 3rd and is open Monday through Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on weekends from 12-8 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person.
