Local stores are anticipating a lot of business as a major snow storm is predicted to hit the area later in the week.
Business has been good the last couple days at Ted's Mower at 51st and Q in Omaha. News of the snow storm has been boosting sales.
“Just about all sizes,” said owner Ted Vice. “Some reconditioned stuff. And some are going with the single stage. Some are going with the bigger two stage.”
And it's not just snow blower sales. A lot of people are bringing in their old snow blowers to get them fixed or tuned up for the big snow. Vice says as of Monday, it's not too late to get a machine fixed.
“We got six mechanics working lots of hours,” said Vice. “At this point we're only running a couple days behind.”
Vice isn't complaining about more snow in the forecast.
“It's been kind of slow this month,” he said. “And we have a lot of snow blowers. So yeah, it's great for us. [It can] Just snow every day this week if it wants to.”
There are still plenty of snow supplies on the shelves at the Westlake Ace Hardware at 84th and Center. In the next day or two the manager expects a surge in sales of anything that helps battle the snow.
“There's people that go into panic mode. And they come in. And then there's those people who come in the day of needing snow blowers, ice melt, shovels, everything you need to get rid of the snow,” said manager Dave Casterline.
