Stolen Vehicle Chase
Suspect not located in a manhunt. Cass County sheriff’s deputies, Nebraska State Patrol troopers, a search dog and the NSP helicopter searched the fields, woods and buildings around 12th Street and Leighton Saturday afternoon. (That is an area west of Highway 75 about 1.5 miles north of Union.)
The Cassgram reports a sheriff’s deputy had initiated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle, a Geo Tracker, on Highway 75. The suspect abandoned the vehicle in a field near 12th and Leighton. The suspect took off on foot and the search began.
Later, authorities received information about a stolen Dodge Ram pickup from the area. The owner had left the keys in the truck.
Sheriff’s deputies did locate information as to the identity of the suspect and an arrest warrant is expected to be issued today.
