State and federal authorities are now investigating three Kansas shootings. Seventy-three-year-old Frazier Glenn Cross Jr. is in custody.
The shootings took place at two Jewish facilities.
Cross was arrested after the shootings Sunday and is being held without bond.
Michael Cast, the Special Agent in Charge of the Kansas City FBI office says all signs point to this being a hate crime.
“In the last 22 hours, we've learned that the acts that this person committed were the result of beliefs, were the result of beliefs that he had and he was trying to hurt somebody based on their ethnicity, race, religion, there a whole number of categories under a hate crime."
Will Corporon, the son and uncle of the victims, said, “It takes no character to do what was done. It takes no strength of character. It takes no backbone. It takes no morals. It takes no ethics. All it takes is an idiot with a gun."
Cross is believed to have acted alone and there’s no indication that he knew any of the victims.
