Mail carriers across the Omaha metro area will be making pick-ups, in addition to their regular deliveries, this Saturday, May 10. Customers are asked to leave non-perishable food items by their mailboxes for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
This is the 22nd year the National Association of Letter Carriers have put on the drive. Organizers said it's a simple way for people to help others in need.
According to a 2011 Feeding America's Hunger in America Survey, nearly 16 percent of Nebraskans reported at least one time in the past 12 months when they did not have enough money to buy food that they or their family needed.
