Speed Zapper: Grover & Armbrust

OMAHA An Omaha parent raised concern about a residential neighborhood. Jessica Cogswell told WOWT 6 News that her street is a disaster waiting to happen.

Grover Street, near Armbrust Drive, has a sign that reads "Caution: Children Walking In Street," but our Speed Zapper crew found more than a dozen people speeding on the road in a short span of time.

"Any cars coming up the hill, if they're coming at a fairly decent speed, they have to slame on their brakes to not hit us coming out of the drive," said Cogswell.

She also pointed out that there are no sidewalks in her neighborhood, but that plenty of kids live nearby; that means parents and children are also walking, near the road, where cars are driving by at a fast rate.

The posted speed limit on Grover Street is 25 miles per hour, but we clocked our top driver going 39 miles per hour. The Speed Zapper crew actually flagged the driver down, who seemed surprised when we pointed out her speed.

"I'm running a little late for work," said said, before agreeing to slow down in the future.

Cogswell said she is going to explore getting a speed bump in her neighborhood to curb the issue she's been seeing. The WOWT 6 News Speed Zapper crew sent her some information on the steps it takes to get one.
