Parents plea for help after catching people going almost twice the speed limit outside a school in Northwest Omaha.
The WOWT 6 News Speed Zapper team set up outside Laura Dodge Elementary near 93rd and Maplewood to check it out.
In this 20 mph zone, we caught drivers going more than 30 miles an hour at times, and they didn't seem to slow down for anything.
The team even saw one driver go by the school doing 39 miles an hour. She had to slam on her brakes as she passed a kindergartner who was nearly hit while trying to get to school.
Speeders didn't even slow down when they saw the Speed Zapper crew waving at them. For that reason, the team will be back out at the intersection soon to make sure people are taking things slow.
