The torch burned bright, kicking off the Special Olympics games in Omaha. Hundreds of athletes from across the state gathered for Thursday's event.
The Opening Ceremony was held inside the DJ Sokol Arena. Competitors, like Connie Kresha, say they enjoy meeting new friends and participating. It's not all fun and games, though.
"Right now, I'm just thinking I want to win my race, and all the other events that I'm in," said Kresha.
The turnout following these games will send nearly 100 special olympics winners to Princeton, New Jersey for nationals.
