The Nebraska State Patrol is planning a "high visibility" initiative, to keep roads safe around the Nebraska State Fair.
“It’s no surprise the State Fair increases traffic volume on area roads,” says Captain Chris Kolb, Commander Troop C-Grand Island. “By making our troopers visible and available, we hope to reduce the potential for crashes by encouraging voluntary compliance with all traffic safety laws.”
The patrols will focus in and around Hall County during the evening and early morning hours on Saturday, August 23 and Saturday, August 31.
A $1,450 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will help pay for the overtime.
