Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol Headquarters Troop-Lincoln, in conjunction with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska Game & Parks, will begin a three-week long special enforcement effort focusing on recreational areas in Lancaster County.
The special enforcement effort paid for, thanks in part, to a $3,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS) will focus on reducing the potential for alcohol related crashes around recreational areas to include, Branched Oak State Recreational Area, Bluestem State Recreational Area, Conestoga Lake, Pawnee Lake, Stagecoach Lake and Wagon Train State Recreational Area.
The effort will focus primarily on weekends, from July 25, through August 14, with troopers conducting high visibility patrols and DUI checkpoints.
“We are fortunate to have a number of wonderful lakes and recreational areas in Lancaster County,” said Captain Lance Rogers, Commander Headquarters Troop-Lincoln. “By providing some extra enforcement we hope to keep these areas safe for everyone to enjoy.”
