Snow Packed Sidewalks Draw Complaints

Even with warm conditions and plenty of sunshine over the weekend there are sidewalks around Omaha that are still snowpacked, violating laws about snow removal.

City of Omaha and their contracted private plow operators got mostly good reviews for their efforts to scrape off the snow for Friday morning's commute. But there are a number of homes and businesses that haven't touched the snow.

Jake Solis says he sees a lot of them along Dodge Street as he walks to and from work. "The parking lots are done but they don't bother to do the sidewalks. It just gets stomped down turns to ice so you slip right next to all that traffic," said Solis.

The Omaha Municipal Code states that snow and ice should be removed from sidewalks within 24 hours after the city has completed clearing major streets.

To report sidewalks that have not been cleared call 402-444-5283.
