Heartland residents may be getting more than just chocolates and greeting cards on Valentine's Day. There is also a chance for light snow.
Latest forecast models indicate a slight chance for a quick round of light snow on Valentine's Day with a little snow or wintry mix spilling over into the weekend as well.
Snowfall on February 14th is not unusual. Last year between February 14th and 15th there was 0.9" of snow. Similarly on February 13-14, 2012 Omaha picked up 1.5" of snow.
Looking back even further, Valentine's Day 2011 was marked by mild weather with highs in the upper 40s, but February 14, 2010 once again witnessed 1" of snowfall around the Omaha metro.
Any snow that falls on Valentine's Day this year, though, will be short-lived as temperatures will soar into the mid and upper 40s over the weekend.
