Even on a snow day Jenny Ruex and her family can't escape school.
“I love it, I love getting to have a day off.”
Ruex and her family spent the afternoon at La Vista Junior High sledding down a massive hill.
“I take every moment to spend with them because its few and far between,” says Ruex.
Children of all ages enjoyed their time in the snow, including 5-year-old Grace Reyes.
“I like it because when we go down the hill it gets on your face and that's fun.”
Over in Papillion, Sara Sempek and her friends had some fun of their own. They stay outside to throw snowballs at each other.
“I like being out here better than being at school,” says Sempek. Her best friend agreed.
“It’s nice to have the week off because its finals week and we're all stressed.”
But if playing in the snow isn't your idea of fun, shopping is a good alternative. Trenton Kerger and his two children stopped by Shadow Lake Towne Center.
“We decided to go shopping for mom while she's at work, once we could get out of the neighborhood that is, once we dug our way out,” says Kerger. For the Kergers’ it was shopping done easy. Trenton says his wife already spelled out what she wants.
“She gave me a list, robe, body spray, earrings the usual.”
There’s no way of telling if more snow days are in the future, but that's something children like Sara Sempek aren't even thinking about.
“I really like when it snows at Christmas. I’ve always wanted one but we haven't had one in a really long time.
