The Omaha Fire Department confirmed Monday a hotel fire over the weekend was the result of a guest falling asleep in bed while smoking.
About 100 people were forced out of the Econo Lodge at 22nd and Dodge around 3:00 Saturday morning.
Fire crews say two people inside the hotel room where the fire started were able to make it out safely. That room was the only area to have smoke and fire damage.
Investigators say the fire caused about $15,000 worth of damage.
