A day after a devastating fire, the owners of the Wahoo meat-smoking plant say they will reopen.
Construction was already underway on a new building at the Wahoo Locker Plant before Wednesday's fire at 5th and Maple, which investigators say was accidental.
It took firefighters more than two hours to put out the blaze, which broke out around 2 p.m. Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said an explosion caused the fire, which quickly moved into an adjacent storage building. The company is known for its "Wahoo Wiener."
At least 80 firefighters from Wahoo, Mead, Cedar Bluffs and Weston responded. One firefighter was overcome by smoke and required treatment.
