Pilot Killed In Small Plane Crash In Southwest Iowa

A small plane crashed southwest of Clarinda, Iowa Sunday afternoon, killing the pilot.

The plane crashed in a field two miles southwest of Clarinda around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of R and 230th. The wreckage sits about 100 yards away from a farmhouse.

Page County Sheriff's Department investigators have determined the plane was a BD4 owned and piloted by 53-year-old Jac Crain of Clarinda. He was the lone occupant of the plane.

An investigation into what caused the crash is underway with the assistance of the FAA.
