Skin Cancer Smoking Risk

Smokers could be at a higher risk for skin cancer.

A review of research suggests cigarette smoking increases the risk for cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas by 52 percent.

The risk seemed to go down with former smokers.

Doctors say dermatologists and other clinicians may want to pay close attention to smokers to identify skin cancers as early as possible.

This review of research included 25 studies.
