A search warrant spells out the grim details behind the murder of a 5-year-old boy. According to the paperwork, the foster sister of both victims told deputies the teenage suspect beat the child with a brick.
Cody Metzker-Madsen, 17, is charged with First Degree Murder in the death of 5-year-old Dominic Elkins. He will make his first court appearance Monday, September 9th.
Newly released documents include statements the foster family made to Harrison County deputies.
A girl living in the house recounts Cody walking inside, with "dirt and mud all over him," and blood on his forehead.
According to the report, the teenager told the family his little brother thought Cody wasn't playing fairly, so he hit his own head with a brick and ran to a ravine.
The 17-year-old led his foster-sisters, and mother to the ravine. Dominic was face-down in the water.
"I tried to give him CPR," reads the statement, "but later my grandpa came over, checked Dominic's pulse, and told us that there wasn't anything we could do."
"Cody had beaten Dominic with a brick and killed him."
The foster parents had five foster children in their home.
In a statement to investigators, the mother backs up the girl's account.
"Cody was yelling and saying he didn't do anything," Julie Coolman told deputies, "He kept saying Dominic hit himself with bricks."
