It's likely that most of us never knew the dozens of homeless in our community that died this year.
A local organization wants to change that.
The Siena/Francis House held a memorial service for 47 homeless people in the area who died in 2013.
It was standing room only in the shelter's dining room where the ceremony was held.
Many gathered to pray, recite scripture, and light candles for those lost.
Organizers wanted to remember each person with the honor they deserved.
"We've got 47 names on this list of people who passed away. These were brothers and sisters, and mothers and fathers, and grandparents, and close friends of people," said Mike Saklar, of the Siena/Francis House.
Other events will be going on across the country for the next couple of days for "Homeless Persons' Memorial Day."
