Shots Fired Suspect Arrested

A man is behind bars after allegedly firing a gun at several people in a gas station parking lot. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Officers were called to the Shell Station at 72nd and Q Street around 10 a.m. Sunday. An employee reported that a man got out of a black Lexus and fired off several shots.

Police said an officer, patrolling the area, noticed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description and performed a traffic stop at I-80 and 60th Street.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody and officers located a loaded gun in the trunk. The gun had not been reported stolen.

Police have identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jeffrey Byrd of Kansas City, Kansas. He was arrested for three counts of Terroristic Threats, 1st Degree Attempted Assault, Use of a Gun to Commit a Felony, and Discharge firearm near vehicle/building.
