The Nebraska Crossing Outlet Stores have been open three months and now comes the first reported shoplifting case but the thieves were caught on camera and mall security is on alert.
Shoplifters hit the Coach store with pricey bags as targets. One took five and later the other three. That's eight high quality bags that cost up to $300 each. Sheriff’s Deputy Eldon Stull with Sarpy County says, “They do have great video out at these stores so we're trying to deter that from happening again.”
Nebraska Crossing has private security officers in cars and on foot patrol. They're checking in stores for signs of suspicious activity. Security Officer Alex Rodriguez says, “Just being in uniform going to every store making sure they see us.”
There are also 60 security cameras watching the mall walks and parking lot. Kelly Calderone Nebraska Crossing Property Manger says, “We can rewind and play back so we can follow them from where ever they go out to the parking lot.”
The Sheriff’s investigator also has video of one thief shopping in another store that wasn't hit but shows the man holding a child.
