She was shot in the face multiple times...and survived. Ashley Bunn is back home and doing great.

Ashley was shot three months ago outside a home in Fremont. Her ex-boyfriend, Garrett Corn, shot her before turning the gun on himself. Corn didn't survive.

Ashley's cousin, Sara Bunn, says the road hasn't been easy.

Sara says, "She actually has been up at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and they've helped her through a lot."

Sara and Ashley have been best friends since they were little girls. Sara says this tragedy has been difficult for the entire family.

"As a family, we all knew she was going to make it. As a family, we all need to heal."

Ashley underwent several surgeries.

She allowed Malorie Maddox to share a photo of her today. She can walk, talk, and besides some slight swelling, she feels like herself again.

Sara says, "She doesn't look any different. Talks, carries on normal conversations with everybody. She's always going to be her bright self."

The Bunn family wants the community to know how grateful they are for standing beside them every step of the way. From t-shirts, to bracelets, to many fundraisers the family has never felt alone.

Sara says, "It's amazing what something so big can do to help one little family."

Sara says Ashley still has an uphill battle, physically and emotionally, but her recovery is a miracle.

"Knowing that she is here and I can carry on a conversation with her brightens my world!" says Sara.

There is another fundraiser for Ashley's family this Saturday, June 2nd.

It's the "RUNN FOR BUNN." The Poker Run is being held from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

To register go to the VS Cafe at 500 S. Main Street in Fremont.

It's $15.00 for riders, $10.00 for passengers.
