Shooting Won't Deter Progress

Omaha City Councilman Ben Gray, Payton Benson’s great uncle, promised Thursday that the shooting of Payton would not stop the good work being done in the area.

He said, “Nothing is going to turn us around. We have started to build North Omaha back. We will continue. This family has suffered a loss but we will continue. The best way to honor Payton, to honor this family, is to continue to build on this community."

Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing echoed the call, saying the community is ready to act.
