A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Jefferson, Saline and Seward counties in Nebraska until 9 p.m. Sunday. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until midnight for much of eastern Nebraska, including Omaha.
Omaha Police are now investigating the 40th metro homicide in 2012, after a man is shot and killed near 36th and Fort early Monday morning.
Just after 12:30 police arrived at a home near 35th & Fort Street
Initial radio reports indicated the victim was shot twice in the head.
Police have identified the victim as 34-year-old Terry Knowles of Omaha.
Knowles was transported from the scene in critical condition to the Nebraska Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
With this recent murder, 2012 is the 3rd deadliest year in the last 10 years. Homicides have declined since 2008, when there were 43 killings, the highest in 10 years.
