A Nebraska county sheriff surprised a high school senior this week by helping her go to summer camp. Cass County Sheriff Bill Brueggemann purchased 240 candy bars. However, don’t expect him to eat them all.
The sheriff saw a Facebook posting from Katelyn Wicks, a senior at First Baptist Christian School in Plattsmouth. The girl let her online friends know that she was selling candy to help raise money to attend summer camp.
Sheriff Brueggemann saw it as an opportunity to allow his guests at the county jail help Katelyn reach her goal.
So, he purchased 240 candy bars which will be placed on the commissary list for the inmates to purchase. It is the third time inmate funds have been used to help youth programs throughout Cass County.
