Turns out, love was not a many splendored thing for 26-year-old Andrew Davis of Lincoln. Investigators say he met a woman online from South Africa and agreed to wire her money to fly her to the United States.
The woman never arrived. Davis ended up wiring $22,000 overseas. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says the money came from Casey’s Convenience Store in Waverly, where Davis is the store manager.
Davis has been arrested for Class III Felony Theft. If convicted he could be sentenced 1-20 years in prison.
Investigators say Davis fell victim to a typical scam from a foreign country.
