Sexual Assault Of A Minor

A 40 year old man will spend the next 4½ years in the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services system.

Last month, Jim W. Isaacs of Eagle entered a guilty plea to a Class II Felony (first degree sexual assault of a minor, age 12-15) in connection with an incident in September 2010 at his residence. Isaacs had originally been charged with a Class IB Felony (sexual assault of a child) and two misdemeanor counts (procuring alcohol) but those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement in which he pled guilty to the Class II Felony.

The Cassgram reports the plea agreement included the jointly recommended sentence of not less than 10 years nor more than 10 years in the Nebraska Department of Corrections system. (Under Nebraska law, a state prisoner gets one day credit for one day served—meaning the 10 year sentence becomes 5 years. Isaacs was given credit for the 147 days he has spent in county jail since his arrest.)

The September incident involved a 13-year-old girl. The girl became ill and drowsy from drunkenness after consuming alcohol supplied by Isaacs, and then Isaacs sexually assaulted her digitally, said Deputy Cass County Attorney Rick Fedde. Fedde said the recommended sentence was fair, especially since continued investigation uncovered evidence there may have been another victim and that Isaacs may have supplied alcohol to minors on more than one occasion.
