Crete, Nebraska School Superintendent Kyle McGowan said Saturday a high school official has been suspended after a man charged with sexually assaulting a student was allowed to chaperone a school field trip.
The girl's parents have complained to the Nebraska Department of Education. On Friday, the Nebraska chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union sent a letter to school officials demanding changes.
The letter says 52-year-old Chad Eggebraaten chaperoned the field trip on October 2nd, even though the school's principal was aware that he had been charged last spring with first-degree sexual assault of a child. Eggebraaten was released on bond in June and ordered to have no contact with anyone age 15 or younger.
McGowan would not name the school official suspended.
