Sentencing is April 22nd for a Nehawka man convicted of third degree sexual assault in an Otoe County District Court trial.
72-year-old Gene Schoemann was found guilty of sexual; contact with a 12-year-old. He met the victim and the victim’s family while he was working as greeter at the Nebraska City Wal-Mart.
The Cassgram reports the Nebraska statute: “Sexual assault of a child is in the third degree if the actor does not cause serious personal injury to the victim. Sexual assault of a child in the third degree is a Class IIIA felony for the first offense.”
Schoemann will be required to enter his name on the state sex offender registry.
Schoemann is a retired teacher.
