The Superintendent of the Ottumwa school district says the sex offender will be attended by a full-time paraprofessional. Superintendent Jon Sheldahl recommended the admittance and Monday night the school board approved.
Sheldahl describes the person as a special-education student who
"doesn't appear to be at a risk" of re-offending. Sheldahl says
the student will be directly supervised by adults at all times.
The superintendent would not name the student.
This is apparently not a first for the Ottumwa district. Sheldahl told the board things went fine in 2006, the last time a sex offender enrolled in the district.
