A prison sentence for probation violation by sex offender. In 2010, then 20-year-old Ryan J. Jensen pled guilty to attempted first degree sexual assault of a child (age 12 to 15), a Class IIIA Felony.
The Cassgram reports District Judge Randall Rehmeier followed the joint recommendation of the prosecution and the defense of a probationary sentence with six months up-front jail time. He had originally been charged with a Class II Felony before agreeing to the plea deal.
The incident involving a teenage girl occurred in March of 2010 in Greenwood. Jensen had lived in Ashland at the time and since moved to Lancaster County.
Jensen, now 21 years old, was back in court this week for not following the terms of the probation. Rehmeier sentenced Jensen to 18 months to three years in the Nebraska Department of
Corrections. With credit for 155 days served and under Nebraska Nebraska sentencing guidelines, Jensen will be eligible for parole in about four months with mandatory release in less than year.
Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox said Jensen showed “substantial disregard” for his probation sentence. He didn’t report to his probation officer, did not follow through with required treatment and didn’t pay any of the costs he was supposed to. Also, Jensen is now has another felony charge pending for failing to comply with the terms of being on the state sex offender registry, said Cox.
